Storms of 14th January 2005

Storms of 14th January 2005

This was another combined work and leisure day. The last job for the day took me SW of Sydney to Ingleburn. I had been watching the buildup of cloud in the west over the mountains since around midday, but it wasnt until around 1500 -1600hrs EDT that the sky really started to look more ominous.

Finishing job at Ingleburn, I travelled back up the M5 to King Georges Rd exit and went down to Hurstville and found a playing field that had a clear view to the southwest. This cell continued to develop as it moved eastwards and it started producing many good CC's and cg's.

I had to stop photography when the rain arrived and within minutes it became torrential but no hail.

Fortunately that's not where the day ended for storms. After arriving home, 2 new cells came across Sydney. The first one at around 2030hrs EDT taking some 30 minutes to cross the city from the west. It passed to south of my home in Ryde. The second cell passed through, this time to the north of Ryde, between 2100 - 2300 EDT. I observed and photo'ed this one from the top level of the carpark across the road from home.
